PKI Certificates can be exported from an eToken, and installed onto a SmartCard. When the card is inserted into a BlackBerry SmartCardReader, and paired with a BlackBerry, then RMS and CPIC data can be accessed.
To use the card to access a PC, insert the SmartCard into the USB Reader connected to the PC.

Q. You remove the smartcard from the SmartCardReader? A. The blackberry device locks
Q. When your smartcard reader moves out of Bluetooth range (3-10 meters)? A. Within a minutes, the blackberry asks to reconnect, and locks if it cannot.
Q. When the smartcard is swapped for another card? A. The blackberry asks for the original card. You cannot login to the blackberry with a replacement card.
Q. What is the process to change the password on a smart card? A. Use Safenet BSEC middleware
Q. What is the process to unlock a smartcard? A. BSEC Middleware with Cherry reader
Q. What is the process to repair/replace a PKI certificate ? A. Export cert again and import to a slot on the card
Q. What is the process to replace a smartcard? A. Assign to Police Device Management IT Policy. Wipe the handheld since you can’t unlock the device, and start from scratch.
Q. What is the process to replace a reader? A. Assign to Police Device Management IT Policy. Wipe the handheld since you can’t unlock the device, and start from scratch.
Q. What is the process to replace a blackberry? A. Assign to Police Device Management IT Policy. Wipe the handheld to remove the IT Policy. Move the SIM card to the new device and start from scratch.
Q. You pair the blackberry device with a smartcard? A. Nothing. It doesn’t try to authenticate and so doesn’t require a password. This is a “safe” procedure.
Q. You connect the blackberry device with a smartcard? A. On startup, it enters the password setup wizard. You can cancel. If you cancel, you are not prompted again. This is a “safe” procedure.
Q. Performing a Battery Out on the BlackBerry? A. Battery out reboot means the devices will require re-pairing between BlackBerry and SmartCardReader
